Books of Kavita Sharma

This book is dedicated to my wonderful, amazing parents. My mum was not given a

chance to further her education but has lived her dream of education through her four

children. Her loving nature has taught me to help others whilst always being proud of

my South Asian heritage. While growing up my dad always instilled the importance of

knowledge and health, even now he still researches health topics, to provide everyone

with tips. The combination of both of their values has inspired me to write this book to

help improve the lives and health of others. Thank you both for your love and guidance,

without your upbringing, I would not be where I am today.

It was whilst I was pregnant with my beautiful daughter that I was inspired to create the

concept of Desi Diabetes and write this book, so thank you Shivani for also being my

inner voice and inspiration. I would like to thank my husband, Deeraj for supporting me

during this venture, even when he thought it was another of my crazy ideas! And a

massive thank you to all my lovely family and friends for supporting me and giving me

advice and ideas. A special thanks to my siblings especially my sisters, brother and

bhabi, who have supported me so much over the last year, from helping me with social

media to always being proud of my small achievements. Thanks to my mother in law

for coming along to my classes and helping me set up. Also a special thanks to

Professor Vinod Patel for his knowledge and guidance. Thank you to everyone for

always supporting what I do and most importantly helping me to spread the word about

healthy living. Together I hope we can help create a healthier future for the next

generation.

I have written this book whilst on my maternity leave, it’s amazing what you can

achieve as a mother. I had no prior experience in starting a business, setting up a

website, or writing a book. I have managed to learn all this as well as create this entire

book from writing to publishing, all completed during my maternity leave. So for all the

mums out there – keep doing what you are doing, you are truly capable of amazing

things!
